When we observe the new world order through epochs of transformations, it may seem like a visage of cycles. It could be interpreted as the cycles of renaissance followed by revolutions and reformations, restorations and revivals. When we look deeper and wider, it becomes clear that these epochs are ever expanding rings in a wider scheme of things. These rings are never finite. They create infinite residues. They manifest in similar and self similar modalities. These residues create long tails of ripple effects. They do resonate and reflect. The results may be spiralling towards the popular metaphor ‘order out of chaos’. When spirals cast spells upon us, we become mere metaphors in the metamorphosis of spectacles. We, the metaphors, melt into metaphysical moulds that blend into meta narratives.

How does all this spiral? It requires unique kind of perturbations and nonlinear dynamics to generate a spiral from initial conditions. These perturbations could be caused by residues from previous rings of the spiral. These perturbations could even bifurcate spirals in their phase plane. The perturbations could be so significant that it can even upset an ambitious project like Babel Tower. The irony is that the perturbations subsume themselves upon the boundaries of the rings.

The concept of rationality and irrationality is often entangled in the rings of these spiralling…
